The full GAPS™ Diet Support Package is a series of sessions over a period of 4 to 6 months designed to guide you through starting and sticking to the GAPS™ diet. It consists of a comprehensive initial assessment and recommendation process followed by a series of (usually 4) shorter support sessions about 4 to 6 weeks apart.

The package includes:

First appointment – Assessment Session

In this initial session, we will discuss your digestive and other health problems, review your health history from birth through the present, discuss your family health history, review your current diet and food preferences and address anything else you feel contributes to your problem.

Up to 2hrs in office or on Skype

Second appointment – Recommendation Session

After your initial assessment, we will prepare and send your custom GAPS™ report with a comprehensive set of personalized dietary and lifestyle recommendations. In this next session, we will review these recommendations and discuss the best ways to include them in your daily routine.

Up to 2hrs in office or on Skype

Ongoing support – Follow-up Sessions

To help you maintain the GAPS™ Diet and review your progress as you proceed, we will meet every 4 to 6 weeks following your Recommendation Session. In these sessions we will discuss your response to different foods and provide further specific advice. We can also discuss recipes and easier methods for preparing GAPS™ friendly meals.

4 follow-up 30 minute sessions (up to 120 minutes total) in office or on Skype

About the GAPS Diet

GAPS stands for Gut and Psychology Syndrome or Gut and Physiology Syndrome. It's a food protocol developed by Dr. Natasha Campbell McBride designed to heal and seal the gut. GAPS removes all starches, processed foods and sugar from your diet, while adding probiotic rich foods with broth as a basic staple.

The GAPS diet is based on the SCD -- Specific Carbohydrate Diet. SCD was developed by Dr. Sydney Valentine Haas as a treatment for celiac disease and other digestive disorders. In addition to becoming widely accepted as a cure for celiac disease, SCD has been used to treat Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, chronic diarrhoea, and other digestive disorders. Unexpectedly, SCD also showed remarkable results in the treatment of several psychological problems.

The GAPS diet evolved over years of use of SCD by Dr. Campbell McBride to treat learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, depression, bi-polar disorder, other psychological disorders, as well as immune and digestive problems.

It can be very challenging to go on the GAPS diet. It's not always obvious which foods are OK and which aren't. Making your own broths from scratch and cooking food under some of the restrictions of the diet can be quite time consuming. We can help you with questions about food and even provide tasty recipes and tips for GAPS friendly cooking.
